“James”: Hw 1, selfie and social media thoughts

Social media is a open diary to the public and it is required in life of most of the people and are used daily. Instagram, which is one of the most popular social media app among others, is like a giant stage where people express there daily moments, and feelings to others. Whats the best of all other people can comment on them and say how they feel of it, social media brings joy to people. Every piece of photograph has its own story and have its point. Cindy Sherman, who love taking moments and uploading it to instagram, takes pictures and edits them to make them look very unusual and they express certain meanings. Cindy Sherman uses herself as the subject of the photography and I see that each of her picture she shows her mood and wants to know how she feels. For example one of the photo she is wearing a full green outfit looks like she is somewhere in the hospital doing some surgery of something and she edited her photo and made a forceful picture of her smiling and determined eyes. The picture may be making an indirect message if she’s being happy that the surgery is successful or she is in a bad situation or something else. I think that social media is a great thing and helps people connect to each other just like how Cindy Sherman uses it as an autobiography to share her everyday life.
