I think the TEDTalk single stories was a perfect example of something that is crippling the American society, coming from a person who faced the same thing as her I was shocked to know that people in America don’t know foreigners(Africans) speak proper English and live in way better houses than the ones in the United States. With her talk she made sure all her audience she read different books when she was a kid which made her audience know that her writings aren’t just coming from her environment she grew up in but the western world as well. She also did great on the story telling aspect of her talk by doing it in time(her age).
ENG 1101 is about you getting more comfortable with your own process. You’ll look at tools and ideas about how language is used to communicate and persuade and even exclude. And you’ll be introduced to concepts like transfer, genre, and metacognition.
AND as part of the Write Out Loud! Learning Community, you’ll also be writing your own TEDTalk that you’ll present in COMM1330
