It was the battle between two countries, one of the bloodiest battles of World War II. During the time, there lived a quiet, skinny kid living in a small town of Virginia, Ross, with his brother and parents. Years later, when Ross and his brother grew up, his brother enlisted for the army to fight in the war, without letting the family know, but he never returned. And, Ross’s father was abusive to his mother, who almost shot her if Ross wasn’t there to stop the fight between them and took the gun away from his father. Although, Ross was a lot different than, he wanted to work as a medic at the hospital but he never had the education to become one. One day, Ross saved a man’s life and brought him to the hospital, where he met a girl and fell in love. That wasn’t very long until Ross also enlisted for the army and proposing his loved one to marry him. When Ross was finally accepted into the army, his moral and religious beliefs became a challenge for him, where his values were in danger. Ross vowed he will never bear arms to take another person’s life or use it to fight in the battle because of his beliefs. But the commander of the military company was not happy with that decision, he wanted all of his men to be trained on how to use a rifle and use it in the war.
Ross didn’t back up from his will to not bear arms, and so the commander humiliated in front of his crewmates and bring hell on him until he quits. He was seen as weak and dumb for what he believes. And, that night he was beaten up while he was sleeping and he still didn’t quit, then was taken to the court-martial where he threatened to be arrested in war prison for now obeying orders. And, during the court-martial case with the help of his loved one, Mary, and his father, they were able to help him out, where it was ruled he had the right to be in the battle without carrying a weapon and work as a medic to save lives of the injured. The battle took position on top of a ridge when soldiers had to climb up to fight in the battle, and during close combat, having no weapon on him, he managed to save many lives even after the commander ordered to fall back as the enemies got an advantage and killing them all. But he decided to stay behind alone, saving over 50 people’s lives that were left behind on the battlefield to die alone. He used his rope tying technique to slowly drop the injured people down from the ridge, which saved many lives. After his bravery and saving many lives, he was seen as the strongest and bravest men in the field. No one was able to do what he had done, he earned everyone’s respect and his religious beliefs were also respected. Ross helped win the battle as a lot of the men he saved were crucial for winning the battle, and his effort in the battle, it inspired the soldiers to fight and know they have each other back that leads to a victory to one of the bloodiest battle in the WWII with heavy weaponry.
The purpose of this story is to understand to stand up for what you believe in because that difference can change many things in your lives and don’t give up.
