Annie Correal, “Love and Black Lives, in Pictures Found on a Brooklyn Street” (2017)
Read Correal’s text. Summarize 4-5 main ideas in a paragraph, then consider her use of photographs. Choose two photos to describe and analyze: what is going on in the photo, and why does Correal include it in her article? What does the photo illustrate? Finally, think about the *genre* of Correal’s article. Why is this approach of text and pictures most suitable for her story?·
Listen, watch, and read the three versions of this true story. Â For you, which did the best job of communicating what happened? Why was it more effective than the other two? Which had the greatest impact on you? Why, compared to the others? What does this show/ tell you about different genres approaching the same subject?
