Join the OpenLab Course Site (see this post for help)

  • After you join our OpenLab site, please familiarize yourself with the site. During class we will review the organization and information links that you will need to use for the rest of the semester.

Be sure to get any Supplies you do not already have by the first class.

  • Please read the Supply Notes on the Supplies page for more information. We will clarify the Home drawing setup requirements during class.
  • Bring your drawing tools and paper and sketchbook to every class!

    • Submit scanned + formatted Reading Notes+ Sketches
    • In addition to your notes + sketches, be sure to reflect on and write your answers the following questions: 
      • How does the book define architecture? 
      • How does that compare / contrast with my own understanding of architecture?
    • Due Monday February 14, 10pm to Dropbox
  • Module I: Case Study Order and Geometry Diagram
    • Using the first floor plan of Federal Hall that you received in class —
    • On your trace paper overlay, freehand sketch a diagram of the plan
      • show key geometric forms you find in the plan
      • show the 2 major axes; use the line types we reviewed in class
      • continue the one you started in class; then make another
    • Bring all sketches and sketchbook to class Tuesday February 15
