Outline Option 1

  • Introduction
    • Hook: quote, fact, anecdote, question, research study
    • Explain the problem
    • Prove that it is a problem: research to provide facts, statistics, other data
    • Thesis: Solution (feasible and detailed)
  • Body Paragraph 2-3 (minimum)
    • Topic Sentence: Make a statement about the part of your solution that you will explain in the paragraph
    • Explain exactly how this part of your solution would work (cost, time, details, who, where)
    • Evidence: library sources, personal experience/observation, film/television, news/current events, books/articles
    • Explain the evidence and how it supports your solution
  • Body Paragraph 4
    • Topic Sentence: Introduce an objection or alternative solution
      • Refute or concede
      • Convince your readers that your solution is better or explain why the objection is wrong
      • Evidence: library sources, personal experience/observation, film/television, news/current events, books/articles
      • Explain how the evidence supports your solution
    • Conclusion
      • Summarize your argument
      • Call to action: tell them what you want them to do

  • Introduction

      • Explain how the evidence supports your solution
    • Conclusion
      • Summarize your argument
