From re-reading “Later” i’ve learned their’s way more to this story then I thought their was. At first I strongly did not like “Later” because it was repetitive and I feel like the author was over elaborating. Since re-reading I’ve come to the fact that procrastination is just more then you postponing or delaying something in particular. Procrastination can be a personal trait or even being a reason you procrastinate because of what your environment is like. Sometimes as a person, procrastinating can have other factors that play apart like “The planning fallacy”. Scientist Jon Elster stated that people underestimate time on how long things will actually take because they fail to take account that basically there will be some type of problem or delay most of the time. He’s  basically saying all the time you plan on doing something , we mostly think every thing will be done smoothly. But we don’t think about all the wrongs that can happen. I can agree with this statement because I actually feel this way almost everyday. I really relate to this because I drive a lot.  My first thoughts when I know I have to go somewhere is how long will it take me to get to my destination. I look at the Waze app to know how long it takes me to get from point A to point B. It calculates how much time it takes but like the rest of us you can’t predict a car crash or somebody’s car just breaking down and being stuck on a highway.I believe this is another way of procrastination but in a way we can’t control but can at the same time. If you would just leave earlier you wouldn’t have this problem, but you can’t always predict what happens. Even the author talks about how while he was writing “Later” he had many unanticipated trips or delays that he could not have predicted.  So this procrastinated him from making “Later ” and releasing his work earlier.

When I reread this what I would do differently is probably find a different time to read this. I read this right when I woke up after I took a shower this morning.I would rather read the story once I get home from school so I can get it over with.To  Do work in the morning let alone reading can be a drag. So now I know for next time I’ll do this a day before when I have more energy to do so.

Something I find extremely irritating after reading “Later” is the amount of examples that were used in this article. I feel as if on a couple of pages for example page 7. The whole page was basically about the author using examples and I just feel like throughout this whole article I’ve read like 20 examples. To me just reading example after examples on procrastination just gets very boring and repetitive. This article was definitely way too long and could’ve been summed up in fewer pages. In page 7 he stated “When I was writing this piece , for instance, I had to take my car into the shop.I had to take two unanticipated trips, a family member fell ill, and so on.” Then directly after he stated “A magazine editor I know, for instance , once had a writer tell her at noon on a Wednesday that the time sensitive piece he was working on would be in her in box by the time she got back from lunch. She did eventually get the piece -the following Tuesday”. Like I understand these are real world scenario’s he is talking about but give it a break.  I understand your point already. I feel like the writer was just writing to write at this point. I do believe that a lot of people procrastinate like myself. That’s why I was able to understand what the passage was about cause I feel like I can relate to all these examples.Just like right now I could’ve finished my homework yesterday and I was planning to, but I told myself “nah ill just do it tomorrow when I wake up”. The story on procrastination was ok and for sure would’ve been better if the story was formed to be more organized and it definitely could’ve been like a 4 page story.
