The YouTube audio titled ‘Daddy” conveyed its message across easily to tell a whole story of a child abuse incident and also sends a message to adults and kids. The writer made the song off a true story of her being sexually assaulted by her father as a child in the past and was very straight forward in sending the information to understand through her words. “Queen Ifrica” the song writer was evidently traumatized by her expressions. Her song was a voice for many victims and an eye opener for parents to look out more attentively for their kids who are surrounded by men. It was appealing to listeners based on the emotions and facts that many people can relate to, which actually helped made the song more detailed and appropriate in my opinion.
I think mothers should make them self a bit more open to their kids so that they don’t have a fear in speaking to them about situations like those. The writer even used this line of the song;
“To all you mothers out there Give a listening ear Pay attention even if di man a pastor Yuh affi mek sure before yuh trust him wid yuh daughta Plus him will even try fi tek yuh son as brawta”
Meaning that they should listen to their daughters complain and not ignore the signs. She then continued in that third line trying to say that even if he’s a pastor it doesn’t matter still listen to their child because a pastor is just a title, but a pastor can still go ahead do the same just like the regular so don’t be fooled by the title.
