Lederer, Alyssa M., et al. “More than inconvenienced: The unique needs of U.S. college students during the COVID-19 pandemic.” Health Education & Behavior, vol. 48, no. 1, 2020, pp. 14–19, https://doi.org/10.1177/1090198120969372.

In “More than inconvenienced: The unique needs of U.S. college students during the COVID-19 pandemic” writer Alyssa begins her journal by introducing the situation with students’ education being so unhealthy and difficult prior to the pandemic that would take place later on. She includes the group that was already undergoing severe difficulties which were the students of color and low income which would go through more complications following the pandemic. Author Alyssa further goes in depth with college students and COVID-19, giving a detailed rundown of all of the inconveniences/problems that came about as a result of the pandemic. Alyssa states, “Concurrent with their schoolwork, many students have expanded their caregiving roles…deal with the loss of loved ones…will become seriously ill themselves…Students…may need to alter their plans significantly, likely interfering with their personal, academic, and professional trajectory”.  This quote captures every inconvenience problem each and every single one of the college students has had to face either one or more of them since COVID-19 was directly affecting college students mentally and physically. As from the quote, a ton of people passed away from COVID-19 complications majority of which could have well been a family member of a college student. Lack of jobs in society as well as restrictions from schools in an effort to fight the continuous transmission of COVID-19 really just further damaged students’ mental health making them more anxious and worried. Author Alyssa’s journal does a phenomenal job covering all the problems that came about due to the pandemic as well as continuing her journal by including possible fighting efforts for future pandemics as well as solutions to the problems that could be taken to strengthen and better support college students’ if there ever came another pandemic.
