example 1

A. The classification of the typeface use is traditional Sans Serif. It has even stroke and no brackets.

B. There is a different is weight between example 1a and 1b. 1a the title has more weight as everything is bold while 1b only specific words or key texts have a lot of weight, it achieve easier information spread, the weight helps your eye catch words that are important to the article.

C. The typeface works well with the material as it is a modern traditional typeface and the information in the text is important/serious information, any other typeface would probably make the reader more focus on the text than the information given to them. I think traditional is the kind of typeface for material that aren’t meant for aesthetics.

D. The background and color works well with the typeface as it accomplishes the same propose. The colors are not bright and colorful but the choice of color is what makes the material pop out as something easy to look at and read with a lot of information on it.

example 2

A. The clarification of the typeface use could be humanist Sans Serif as it thick strokes.

B. The weight is heavily emphasize on the quotes and the title but mostly everything has a lot of weight unlike the name under the quote. Made so the reader know what is more important, the title and the names and the quote.

C. The type face works well here because it makes the material look strong the thick strokes and heavy tone makes the broadway show seem hyped.

D. The background and color works with the typeface because the bright color makes the typeface look stronger with it as there’s a strong story in Topdog|Underdog. a typeface like slab serif would made the material more artistic in a drama play way not strong.

example 3

A. In this example there are two typefaces, for the title it is Old style Serif and for the text is is Geometric sans serif as you can see from the sharpness.

B. The weight is emphasize for some text, mostly the title and names of the play/show.

C. The typeface suit the poster/ad based on what time period the play is at. Old Style Serif came from the old age so the title being Old style gives the poster that feeling of the show/play being set in an old time. The Geometric sans serif helps give information to the reader without taking away from the title of the play.

D. The background and color work really well with the typefaces being use, the background and color is design as an old play in the early 19th centuries so the color and the Old style serif use work really well together as it gives you the old 19th vibes.
