Reading Response 4

These authors state that something is missing from the art of the past well it could be very well that the concept that was missing from the past was a sense of unity in design and the arts instead of all the practice being separated into categories the Bauhaus came together and combined the practices.

The role that typography, photography, and other media should play in the shaping of a new kind of art is that they should work hand in hand to create new art forms like the typophoto. Typography as itself is used to communicate with the observer but with photography, it can now have a physical representation to communicate.

The role that language should play in art and design is the way it can communicate to the viewer efficiently. The use of typography is the way language impacts design and art it is used to express ideas. Different fonts and typefaces give design an ability to be diverse and unique while still being expressive.

The new strategies or ideas that will be necessary for the future of art forms are the reorientation of how we design as we not only should create for us but to create for a better society. Not only that but the way we view art forms as separate practices we should be able to congregate them into one and use them synchronously.

Education or “the academy” should teach its artists about the history of art and the skills that it takes to produce art. It also can teach them the concept used in the field that they feel like pursuing whether that be painting or architecture it can teach the basics but cannot be mastered by teaching alone.
