“Reflection”

Audience: The audience would be authorities like politicians.

An important audience would be authorities like politicians because they are the one who are involved in government problems and they should solve them. Sometimes the people themselves are not enough to get political attention, but the dilemma and public awareness will reach those who are in control with the support of lawmakers, advocates, and humanitarians, so that they can actively play a significant role in coming up with a solution to it.

One of the reasons why politicians should be involved in police brutality problems is because government authorities have power. The State Government can increase police accountability by making police departments engage with civil payouts to victims of police violence in the form of insurance policies. Creating these types of regulations will make other people happy to see changes. Raising voice would be beneficial for some political parties because they will be favored and get votes during the election. Another reason why they should be involved is because politicians have data and sources on what’s going on, and they play a big role in a country. Politicians have money to solve problems because they are the one who fund the police. Third reason why politics should be involved is because police brutality impacts the government. When there is urgency for a government to react to problems such as police brutality, the risk of losing face with the public and people may lose respect for them in turn. Losing faith in politics might lead to revolutions as well as civil war.

In order to spread awareness that police brutality exists, I would use social media because most people find out news from social media. People can find information from “Snapchat news” or TikTok for example. Videos with evidence would be a very credible and helpful source to prove that police use violence. People often get emotional while watching videos when somebody is getting abused or discriminated against. If people will pick a side and start to protest, politics will try to solve the problem so that people wouldn’t be violent.
