Week 10

The webinar I watched was called “Effectively Creating for Brands on Social Media” by Anna Prosser. This was through Adobe max so it was a pre-recorded webinar on their site. Anna has worked with a plethora of brands both as a host and as a producer in the geek/gaming space such as Blizzcon, Pokemon Championships, Twitch and more. In the Webinar she covered knowing and speaking for your audience, Collaborating professionally, offering a top-tiered product, and continued growth. All of which I think is important to know as a designer working with people and brands will inherently need this both offered and understood, as well as for anyone interested in any type of entrepreneurship.

She talked about the fact that you must know your audience best and this includes knowing what they will like and not like, knowing you community’s language, and which platform will suit them best for a specific product or objective. You need to understand your audience on each platform. One thing that she covered that I think is really great is knowing how to translate “brand-speak” into “you-speak” and I think that is so important so that things are understood and seem genuine. For the sake of clarity and authenticity it really is an important skill to have and would result in more efficacy.

In collaboration professionally she covered some really great points. One of these was about knowing your value and setting boundaries which I think can be tricky to do in any sort of setting. I think knowing that it’ll be best for you and your business and audience or clients (if that’s the case) in the long run is something that can really make this more of a defining characteristic. Some other topics she talked about when it came to professional collaborations were setting and double checking expectations, replying to things in a timely manner and curating long-term relationships amongst other points.

When it comes to delivering products she talks about preparing work samples, hiring help when necessary and seeking resources in long-term engagement along with other points. While some of her points and the overall webinar is more geared towards creating for brands on social media as an influencer than as a designer, I think that these are still a ton of great takeaways.
