Week 5

Working with Natalie has been interesting so far, especially seeing as I really don’t know anything about the “fashion or sewing world” so that’s something new. I have had to do quite a bit of research on the business end of things when it comes to what it takes to start a more luxury brand for her and the main fabric she is wanting to use for the brand as well as for myself of how to design for a luxury brand as in the branding as well as the overall feel. I’ve always known that research is important when working with someone but working with her in a space that I really don’t know about has been really intensive I think. I’ve spent so many hours just researching while working with her to get a better grasp of what she wants and how to do it.

It’s also been interesting to get to talk to her and see how she’s envisioning things. We had worked together on answering some preliminary questions, some of which she knew, and some that she’s going to keep thinking about through the weeks. I also got to see which sites she was thinking to model hers after when we get there which was super helpful. This week we were looking on Pinterest together and figuring what kinds of logos she likes, and why she likes them. We pulled out the particular elements so that I can can gain a better understanding of what would be best aligned for her brand. She’s wanting to go for a more colonial style but one that feels more modern, but she also likes the 2 font mix so I’m figuring out how to try and incorporate that possibly. Maybe it makes sense, maybe it doesn’t, we’ll see.  She is also liking the possibility of a logo mark so later on this week or next I’ll some sketches and some vector iterations and show them to her for us to discuss things.
