Week 1- Aug 26-28Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
This first week is short. Here are your Goals:
- Share your opinions and feelings about being in an online class
- Reply to some of your peers to get to know each other
- Get more fluent with OpenLab

Due by end-of-day Day, Saturday
Being an online student can be intimidating, confusing, and just plain difficult!
So for these first few days, you get to vent about it! No kidding. Share your concerns with each other. Maybe give each other some advice or just a good old bit of support. Believe me — online instructors have many of the same worries you do, even if weâve been teaching online for a while. I also promise not to hijack the conversations, either! đ
Here’s what you’ll do:
- PLAY with the website. You can’t break it. Honestly. I’ve tried. Click around on all the tabs. See whatâs there! This is kind of like our classroom for the semester, so make yourself familiar with the âroomâ and the âclosetsâ and âshelvesâ where we are storing things.
    2. READ: this “tip” piece, written by another school (but still helpful)
â Â Â âTips for Online Learning Successâ Â https://www.nhcc.edu/student-resources/online-learning-d2l/tips-for-online-learning-success
    3. WRITE: a new post (here is info on how to Post. You can also just click the â+â sign at the top of the OpenLab menu as a shortcut : ))Â
- Â Â Â Start with one word that describes how youâre feeling about this course as we get started. No need to explain, but you can if you want to.
- Â Â Â Then: Talk about your worries, concerns, reactions to the readings and/or to being an online student… whatever you want to. No censoring… And
- Â Â Â Add a picture that means something to you, and explain why you chose it — why does it mean something to you? It can be anything. (If you need help on how to Upload a photo, check this OpenLab Help link.)
- NOTE: when to are ready to Publish your post, you will have to choose “Intro” as your Category when you are prompted. Thanks.
l   4. A BIT MORE WRITING: Wait a while. Check back in and see what other people are saying, and reply (hereâs a link for how to leave a COMMENT) to at least 2 other peopleâs posts or comments. It’s nice to know we’re not alone! Hey, donât just repeat what a lot of other people are saying. Try to be personal and specific as you can. Your classmates will appreciate it.
