Hook – “Life can always change, you have to adjust “.
Topic – My Educational experiences growing up somewhere I didn’t belong.
Thesis – Education can be everything to someone or a complete waste of time. I wasn’t the brightest kid growing up but my hard work made me different. School is important in my family with education you can be successful that is what most dream about or at least mine, which isn’t easy for everyone.
Topic – Attending a school with privileged students and there being very few Latinos was difficult trying to fit in.
Point – There are many challenges Latino face in our world today one being those who are privileged have power over us us. Not being as fortunate as many other kids who were given everything to them.
Illustration – Throughout my middle school years it was hard attempting to be like other kids at my school not having the same educational support at school like other students would be given. But having to find ways to get them. Teachers would tend to pick up on me not so I can participate but to put me on the spot and make me look dumb.
2. Choosing the right group of friends played a huge factor with my education. I didn’t have the right friends who wanted to see the best of me but encouraged me to do bad things to please them or others. Having to do it in order to fit in with others group or be that “cool” kid at school.
3. Coming from a immigrant parent who came to this country to give me a better life wasn’t easy them having to put food on our table and a roof over our head came with struggles. Having to face racist remarks from teachers and students was a very difficult time. Which then my parents having to go to the school and look like fools because nothing was done.
Explanation – Growing up somewhere you think you don’t belong can be encouraging for someone to do succeed . Believing you can me like other or better.
Conclusion –As students of different race try to navigate this system, their voices aren’t heard because they’re being seen as contrary to education rather than being seen as a strength of diversity.
