Engineering Intern for Summer’ 18 at Integrated Storage Technologies – New York, NY

About: IST is looking for an Engineering Intern to assist with proposal development, drafting and project management. The Intern will help to clean up power-usage interval data in Excel to run a design algorithm, and will manage the creation of proposals. He or she will also be involved in drafting electrical schematics and site layout drawings that are used for determining installation costs or for permitting. Occasionally, the Intern will be asked to aid in project management activities, like processing orders and communicating with IST’s contractor partners.

Skills and qualifications:

• This is an ideal opportunity for anybody looking to be involved in the burgeoning stationary battery market, or in the solar industry.
• No prior experience or specific educational background is required, but familiarity with electrical engineering, building construction and CAD drafting will be highly preferred.
• Mustbe capable in Excel, and able to use other applications in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with coding or an interest in control systems is an asset.
• Excellent organizational abilities are essential. He or she must be reliable, self-directed, have good communications skills and a ready willingness to learn.

Additional info:

• IST is based in NYC, and will be opening an office in the Chelsea neighborhood in Manhattan in summer 2018. Candidates who are able and available to report to IST’s physical office will be preferred, but those living in the Boston metro area will also be considered.
• At a minimum, the candidate will be asked to meet other team members in NYC on several occasions, and will responsible for his or her own transportation.
• Compensation is dependent on skills and experience.
• The position will entail 5-10 hours per week, but this could increase depending on the candidate’s availability and the workload.
• It is expected that new permanent positions involved in the same work will be available later in 2018, and interns will have an inside track to being hired.
