Hello everyone my name is Angela Asaa and I am a student here at City Tech. I am currently in college with a dental hygiene major but I am swerving on the course to an undecided/exploring my options major. My academic goal is to graduate college with a degree in something that I can enjoy, and spread that enjoyment onto others. I’m currently exploring my future in a hospitality career by taking HMGT1101.
My interest sparked after my experience of my first job working at a fast-food restaurant. Working closely with the owner who owns multiple locations across Brooklyn, Queens, and Long Island, I observed she handled her business which ultimately sparked my interest in the hospitality career. One of my potential career goals would be to explore the world of hers, unlike my own (as I was a crewmember and she is the mastermind behind it all). I would like to see how she handles day-to-day businesses of handling the highs and lows of the restaurant and the toll it takes on a person. I would also like to understand how she was able to work so long and still be in the business at the ripe age of eighty. She has granted me this job which allowed me with this career insight which inspired me to explore this hospitality career and potentially making it my future goal. I believe that I am strong at understanding customers’ emotions and empathizing with them, as I would like to be treated the same way. I believe it will help me because I would get in touch with what the customers want working in a hospitality career. I am a slightly advanced learner therefore, over time I can pick up things quickly and change them in a way that makes it easier for myself and others. Finding new ways to do things that were once done a standard/traditional way and adapting it to fit with the changing era would be my specialty. I think these two qualities or something an industry leader should hold and I cannot wait to explore my future strengths and weaknesses in this career path!
