The Rose That Grew From Concrete

Did you hear about the rose that grew

from a crack in the concrete?

Proving nature’s law is wrong it

learned to walk with out having feet.

Funny it seems, but by keeping its dreams,

it learned to breathe fresh air.

Long live the rose that grew from concrete

when no one else ever cared.

Tupac Shakur

The first thing that struck me about this poem was the simplicity of it. The personification of the flower compared to a being that walks was interesting as well. I believe the meaning behind this poem is to defy the odds no matter the circumstances. It also shows that something so simple can come from a place that does not seem as special as what came out.

This strikes me as “interesting” because the comparison between a flower and a person for obvious reason support the growth and process both undergo.

The meaning I got from this poem is to persevere through anything, even if nothing seems to go right, because it’s yourself and the goals you have set that matters. I love it! RIP to one of the greatest

This poem says striving to me, you strive for a goal that you wish to accomplish like this flower did.

I like how itt has a powerful message, but written with a few words.
