My research question: How have gangs involved youth with violence and become widespread.

I am interested in this question because I am almost certain that not everyone has been aware of gangs and gang violence and if they do, I think it is important to show that there is a lot of youth being involved in these gangs. However, New York City has been the state with the most common gang violence in the past 10 years. I am personally interested in this topic because gang violence happens on a daily basis with and without being on camera. My highschool personally had a lot of gang violence in and outside of school which was always involving someone to get hurt very badly and sent to the hospital, or even have ā€œgang fightsā€, which means that a group of people fight another group of people. Sometimes the fights would be just for fun, and then sometimes it would actually be so bad that the security guards have to physically stop the fight in the teacherā€™s classroom. Even sometimes the teachers would get hurt just because the kids fighting would go near them without knowing and mess up their items and the teachers themselves teaching or not teaching. And because of this, Iā€™ve noticed that violent gangs usually attract the youth group at a young age. Through my research, I hope to find out a lot of information as to why and how gangs came to be violent, how did it become a widespread, and why do the young kids get involved with it.  If I were to find information that goes across my hypothesis, I would most likely use it as a counterclaim and rebuttal it instead of getting rid of it for a better and to prove my argument stronger.
