From the reading that I understand main conflict play is gender roles, justice and abuse of power. I think also that play is the role of fate in creating diving balance.

From what i have read, i believe the central conflict is between Antigone and Creon. The conflict is about giving Polynices burial while creon believes this is wrong.

The main conflict in the play is that the resistance to give a proper burial for Antigone’s brother Polyneices due to the king, Creon not wanting it

the conflicts seems to be brought up between the two sisters, antigone tells her sister ismene that creon will only honor one of her deceased brothers and not the other one even though they both died on the same day for the same battle. if they try to honor their other brother by giving him a proper burial, the town will stone them to death. it seems as though creon is corrupt for this making sure that the people who respect the brother will be stoned to death.

From my understanding of the text, I think that the main conflict is standing for what you believe in despite not having the approval of your authorities. Antigone choosing to disobey the orders of the king because she wants to bury her brother. She is literally going against the law. However to her, this is the right thing to do. King Creon is deciding the fate of others but it is only out of his own interest.

The main conflict in the play is moral. Antigone has to decide if she will choose to listen to the king and do as the law says or give her brother a proper burial. The are several smaller internal conflicts in the play but the most prevalent is to do what feels right morally or to do what is said to be right lawfully..

antigone and ismene have a different point of view Antigone wants to do what she believes she right as law says all death should be equal, she wants of of her brothers to have a proper burial since other one is already getting one but ismene says she’s is supposed to obey the men in power …in the end ismene goes along aside with her even tho she didn’t do the deed.

I believe that the main conflict is based on what is morally right or wrong. Antigone would like to do something her way but later is reminded that her opinions on how things should be executed are not correct. I believe that gender roles also play a major role in the main conflict of this text.

The main conflict of the play is disagreement and doing what you believe is best at heart. Antigone wants to disobey Creon which is the king in order to fulfill her satisfaction and bury her brother. However she was warned the consequences if she follows her heart.

  10. Hadassel Gomez

The central conflict/problem is between Antigone and her uncle, King Creon. They argue whether they should bury Antigone’s brother or not. The king refuses to do this, but Antigone is decided in doing it. She says is the god’s wish that humans receive a death ritual. She insists that her obedience is to a higher authority.

  11. Tenzin Norbu

Antigone who was very close to her brother, Polyneices, and she wishes to give him a proper burial. However, the king, Creon refuses to allow this because of Polyneices’ treason.

  12. Staceyydeleon

the main conflict is dealing with higher power on what she wants to do. Antigone wants to bury her brother but the king isn’t allowing her to she has been warned.

  13. Eric

The main source of conflict between Antigone and Creon is the issue of the burial of Antigone’s dead brother. Both of her brothers were killed in battle (they killed each other). One of brother fought against their home city and was considered a traitor. Creon issued a law that whoever tries to bury this man will be put to death.

  14. Rabbi

I think the main conflict of the play is about doing something you want and what is doing right.

  15. Gerardo Ramos

From what I understand the central conflict is going against what the ruler has said. To go against his wishes and bury a brother who has died.

  16. Jenny

The main conflict is either you listen or not like they say you did it right or it can go bad.
