The genre I wanted to use was something visual that would get straight to the point and catch the eye of a teenager, something like street art or a small post on social media. The idea behind choosing this genre is solely based on the fact that the majority of young adults and teenagers use social media to communicate messages or post major trends. A mural dedicated to the dangers of subway surfing would be a great way to communicate this great loss of life. The sample text I used uses short sentences and tells a story of the tragic passing of many young adults and teenagers. My genre is found on online newsletters such as ABC7 and other news outlets. The post is organized to include videos, pictures, and small sentences to describe what is happening. This post was written by a reporter. The report really emphasizes the effort of the city in trying to prevent more loss of life to subway surfing.
