Mike Bunn’s “How to read like a writer”, is a piece created for current English students who wish to take their writing to the next level. Reading something not only just to take in the information but to also constantly be asking yourself question of why this text is so interesting, what type of words is the author using to enhance it, what detaches from the text, and most importantly how can it be incorporated into your own writing. Bunn’s essay being split into various parts also gives readers something to use in their own written assignments to organize and break the text as to not run along to the point it becomes mundane. “When we read like writers we understand and participate in the writing. We see the choices the writer has made, and we see how the writer has coped with the consequences of those choices”, this quote shows how us as not only readers should be actively thinking how we can write at the same time.
