Zekai, My writing Process

My writing process is pretty crude if you get to see it. During high school, I wouldn’t write a draft unless told to, and even if I did write a draft I would use that draft as my final piece with minor edits, unless I really hate the draft then I would rewrite the draft into a final piece. My time management for my writing assignments would usually be toward the final day or the day before because I procrastinate a lot. I would like to fix that habit and be able to write one or two drafts before writing my final piece, I would also like to have a blueprint or plan before writing a draft and be able to better edit my draft to a good usable final writing piece.

    • What have you decided to focus on for your education narrative? Why have you chosen to tell this particular story?
    • I have chosen to write about my experience after graduating high school trying to adjust to college and becoming more of an adult. Have chosen to tell this story because Iā€™m sure readers will come to understand and relate to my story.
    • What is the meaning/significance of your story? Why should people read it? Write this out in one sentence.

This story is significant to me because Iā€™m changing and growing into another person different from my high school self. People should read it because Iā€m sure they also have gone through this change one way or another.

    • In one word, how do you want people to feel when they are done reading your story?

    Empathy

    • Freewrite details you remember about the situation you are describing: include people, places, dialogue, feelings, thoughts, etc. that are in some way connected to your story.

My high school friends and friend that is going to the same college as me and my parents

Second, review what you have so far and try to label the features of your narrative arc.

    • Exposition/Inciting Incident (who, what, when, where, and how does your story begin?)

At the beginning of my senior year of high school

    • Rising Action (you should include a lot of the story details here)

Applying for College and my first job

    • Climax (the moment of most drama and significance)

    Attending college

    • Falling Action (what happened after?)

For now, that story is still continuing

    • Resolution (what was the result of this experience? What is the significance?)

There is no resolution yet still trying to find my way, maybe there will be one when I finish college
