Captain’s Log:

So I was checking out the Maker Faire and a project I saw that really interested me was this guy whose making a robot with all its pieces being 3D printed except the motors(I’m not really sure).

It’s looking pretty good so far; the guy is working on shoulders for it at the moment. This is his blog:

I think he’s aiming for it to be autonomous by using a camera to record and mimic motion in real time but as of right now he’s controlling it via keyboard(I think he even came up with a way of using a powerglove for controlling it as well). All the joint are fully functional so far, especially the fingers which can hold things and has a good grip. He has a lot of videos with tutorials and how to videos as well as the schematics for his parts. This could be really helpful toward the construction of the spider-robot I’ve promoting for the past few posts. I’d especially like to know what motors he’s using since they seem very powerful or at least powerful enough that it can have a very good grip for robotic fingers. I wonder if the maker bots here in the college are functional enough so that I could perhaps print out the parts for the spider robot as well…
