  5. Set up your OpenLab ePortfolio
    • Create a post category for your Internship journal entries
    • Start adding your best work from each class (aim to have 3 posts completed with images, project description, and reflection)
    • Look at ePortfolios on OpenLab, last semester interns’ ePortfolios
  6. Complete 10 hours of work on the above tasks (including this meeting). Record your hours and work on our shared time-tracker spreadsheet

    • “Did You Know?” Post on The Buzz
      Starting with this existing list of 10 Things We Love About The OpenLab, choose one and create a draft post on The Buzz by next Tuesday. Let the rest of the team know on Asana which “thing” you choose so we don’t have duplicates.
      • Example: Did you know the OpenLab is accessible?
      • We’ll provide a template via an example post this week.
    • Building out your ePortfolio (as model for students)
      • Feedback? 
      • How did it go?
      • Did you learn anything that could be shared with other students as they start building their ePortfolios?
  4. Major Project Work: Define & Assign Roles
    • ePortfolio Community Outreach Campaigns – Janieca/Corey
      • Student Engagement via The Buzz, Campus Screens, Swag (printed handouts/stickers)
      • Student Support eg Tutorials, Screencasts, Workshops
      • Consult with Director of Professional Development Center,
      • Work with peer mentors for First Year Programs, or for the program itself
    • ePortfolio WP Theme improvements – Saria/Lyonel
      • Identify themes that we have that you like
      • Identify themes that would be good additions
      • Use OpenLab Dev for testing and evaluation
      • Fix accessibility errors in child theme
      • Consult with our developers Bree and Boone
    • ePortfolios Templates – Shabaj/Darren
      • Evaluate existing ePortfolio templates
      • Evaluate the Template interface
      • Research different majors/departments’ needs
      • Build new templates on Dev in consultation with Bree
  5. Logistics/Housekeeping

      • Mid-week check-ins in Asana: on Fridays post a comment on the shared Check-in task with updates on project progress or questions.

  • Questions/Challenges
    • If you have already created a Journal site, then create an ePortfolio, the first site is hard to get back to?
    • Challenges around using Categories
    • Shabaj: working on theme for ePortfolio. If you publish with one theme, can you change it later? (Y)
    • Discussion around themes vs templates
  • Practicalities: Google, Dropbox, Asana
  • Goals & Expectations doc:
    • Goals:
      • Darren: create model ePortfolio for incoming students
      • Darren: more dynamic themes for ePortfolios
      • Janieca: make creative, informative, well structured guides – help student learn the ropes & be more confident using OL
      • Saria: have a strong portfolio, show freshman & sophomore students you can add your work there so you don’t lose your projects. Create more themes for WP.
      • Shabaj: improve on soft skills – time mgmt, organization, communication. Also help make OL much better for newcomers, especially those in non-design-related departments
      • Corey: technical skills, time management, problem solving
      • Lyonel: use all skills I have as designer & developer to improve OL, interface

      • Janieca: make sure you are putting in the effort, doing the work, let me try this. Taking the time to invest & find out the answer.

    • Building out your ePortfolio
      • Saria: when I uploaded images, they were blurry
      • Saria: use ePortfolio both for projects but also as record what you learned (e.g. about Photoshop, etc)
      • Shabaj: Classic vs Block editor? Duplication of image

      • All interns seem good with their projects

  • Project Proposal 
    • Brainstorm and create a proposal with timeline for your Major Project to share next week.
  • Continue working on your OpenLab ePortfolio
    • Follow the COMD Portfolio Template menu structure (restructure your existing menu or start from scratch and document the experience of creating a new portfolio)
  • “Every Week” tasks
    • Complete weekly check-in by Friday
    • Document your hours in the spreadsheet
