Ā BANDĀ is social app where you can join or create groups in order to network with other people. The are numerous groups (bands) that you can join on that relate to what your interest is. For example if you are an illustrator, you can look for groups that have to do with illustration and join them. You can share projects and even get critiques on you work. Or you can start your own illustration group and other illustrators will join your group. Great way to network! I also like the logo for the BAND app a seen above.
As you can see, BAND is a social media app. You can create bands (groups) and also check invites. People will notice you and invite you to their group if you share the same interest. You can customize your profile page just like any other social media app. This image shows a band I joined called “Graphic Designers”. I am a graphic designer and would love to network with other graphic designers to know more about the industry and to also enhance my skills in the field.
When I joined the “Graphic Designers” group, I got a warm welcome from them.Ā I haven’t quite updated my profile as much because I just recently got the app, but I am working on it. You can also post things just any other social media app for others to see what you have to say and it is a good way to stay connected with everyone. You can see how many members are in the group and also comment and like stuff.
Overall, I like the BAND app and I love that people are creating all different types of ways to network with one another to help get yourself out there. I look forward to exploring all the features that BAND has to offer. The next band I am thinking of joining is an illustration group because drawing is my passion. I would also like to start my own band someday!
Simplicity Jobs and Careers is an app to help you find employment. Whether you are looking for a full-time or part-time employment or internships. It helps connect students who are in college or alumni to meaningful job opportunities to help launch their careers.
I came across this app when I signed on in the City Connect Program at New York City College of Technology. I was asked about it while I was interning in the Professional Development Center by one of the staff and I was told to connect right away! I was in the system but had to change my password. once I was in, I was able to explore a bit but that was on the desktop. On of the pages of the City Tech website, I was asked to download this app which is linked to our City Connect. Once downloaded, you can update your profile and start looking for jobs. You can set the types of jobs you are looking for and you will get daily updates on the jobs that relate to your interest as seen above. You can upload your approved resume on there for employers to see and recruit. A great app for students who are looking for internships.
Here is a sample of how to set up your job listings and what you want to see. it breaks it down by position type, industry, job function and location. This helps to find what are you are looking much easier. Also, you can add on your profile your school major and job related listings will also show up relating to that major.
Overall, the Simplicity Jobs and Careers is good and helpful to students (such as myself) to find jobs through their schools which will lead them to the careers they want to pursue.
