Each week you will need to respond to two questions posted. Your response should be a minimum of 150 words for both questions. You should also include at least one response to your fellow students. The responses are a requirement for participation part of your grade.
Question 01 –
Why do you think that the low poly portrait should only be made up of triangles, rather than other polygons? If the portrait is made up of only four-sided shapes, rather than triangles, how do you think it would impact the overall design?
Question 02 –
When would it be useful to add multiple fills to a particular shape in a design? Give an example of a specific object (ie., Clothing, Nature, Food, etc.) that would benefit from having multiple fills when designed in illustrator.
Q#1: Well, based off of my experience doing this project, when creating these triangular shapes. The triangles will be able to fit in the portrait picture very well. I’ll appear more of an overall geometric design. If the portrait was made up of four sided shapes, I think maybe the overall design would appear 3D or 2D. I really don’t think it would have a negative impact on the design (from my perspective).
Q#2: Like for example, you want to create a logo design for a company, design fashionable clothing, food, candies, toys and etc. I’ll be very useful to add multiple fills because they’ll all benefit and appear to look amazing when it’s designed in Illustrator.
1.I think that the low poly portrait should only be made up of triangles, rather than other polygons because its only to make it look cleaner and not ugly, in some sort of way. its also used to define and cover your whole face, to make it look like you.
If the portrait is made up of only four-sided shapes, rather than triangles, i think it would impact the overall design in a pretty bad way, because you don’t want 4 sided shapes to take up a lot of space in many or some parts of your face. Like in your eyes, or your nose for example. Then if you add light and dark colors to the shapes on said eyes, nose and anywhere else on your face, it will cause a whole lot of confusion. Therefore, you don’t wanna do that to people.
2. it can be useful to add multiple fills to a particular shape in a design to like an apple, grapes, clothes for example with light colors, if their reference pictures themselves ALSO have light colors. NOT when they have all dark colors, and when their reference pictures ALSO have dark colors. When the pictures like that and images like nike hats, then that might call for you to basically, use less fills for a low poly design. It might depend on the actual image itself. If i’m not even mistaken.
Triangles are best for low poly because they have the least number of corners and are the easiest to work with. All other shapes contain multiple corners which makes it very hard to do an accurate low poly portrait. In a low poly portrait, we need to draw thousands of shapes and the triangle is the most accurate and easier shape to draw over a thousand times compared to other shapes with multiple features. Using triangles makes the entire artwork very simple and noticeable which is extremely necessary to capture the mood and features on the face accurately. A square can work on a portrait, but it will have multiple shapes and lines which may become a little distracting and potentially mess with the details which are necessary.
I’m not entirely sure but two fill colors are probably most effective when we are working with decorations. Decorative clothing can have multiple fill colors for each element of the decorations to make it look more dynamic. Objects such as umbrellas and flowers can also use different fill colors.
that could be true
