    Question 01 –

What things would you consider when creating a perspective drawing in Illustrator?

When creating a perspective drawing we have to consider the type of perspective first, such as one-point, two-point, or three-point. Then the grid needs to be set up to make sure that everything is correctly proportioned, this includes where the vanishing points are/is going to be. Then use the layers for organization, like keep the sketch on one layer, and the coloring on another layer.

    Question 01 –

What things would you consider when creating a perspective drawing in Illustrator?

While creating a perspective drawing, it is important to keep the final goal in mind. That will allow you to see if you need to choose a 1-,2-, or 3-point perspective and figure out the right proportions for what you’re creating. You would also need to establish the horizon line. The goal is usually to make the illustrations more complex and realistic-looking. I would also emphasize the need of creating a clear layer system, in order to keep all the assets organized and easy to access.

    • Irin Yela

I agree with you completely, if we first establish what point of view and the horizon line the drawing is will be much more realistic. And will the layer system it will be very organized even if the illustrations is complexed.

    1) when considering perspective in Illustrator, you need to figure out what to draw first. After you figure it out what to draw, you need to figure out what tools you would need to use. The vanishing point is very important when it comes to perspective, because you can use it to make sure your illustration is in proportion.

When undertaking a perspective drawing in Illustrator, it is advisable to determine the subject to be drawn at the outset. Next, you can consider how you wish to approach generating the drawing – ponder on the tools you prefer to use and the techniques to oversee your progress and ensure accomplished tasks are recorded. Choose the style of viewpoint you intend to portray in your drawing: either one-point, two-point, or three-point perspective. Before commencing a perspective drawing, it is imperative to consider the vanishing point as an essential aspect. Ensure that your drawing maintains proper balance and proportions by utilizing the grid and locating the vanishing point, which is where parallel lines converge. Before getting started, it is crucial to clearly understand your goals to avoid any potential confusion, errors, or unintentional omissions of important details that you have planned for.

    • Jenise Roque

I agree with everything that you said. Considering which perspective you want to use when figuring out perspective is best when you either want to do simple or complicated perspective drawings.

  5. Jeffrey Lin

Things to keep in mind when creating a perspective drawing in Illustrator are what type of perspective drawing you want it to be, scale, position, lighting, and colors. There are one-point, two-point, and three-point perspective drawings. To make a perspective drawing grid in Illustrator, go to the toolbox on the left and click on the perspective grid tool (shift + P). On default, it will show a two-point perspective grid box with a blue grid on the left side, an orange grid on the right side, and green lines on the bottom that make up the bottom of the grid box. The white dots on the top green line are called vanishing points, points that help create the grids. To change the perspective, go to view on top of the illustrator window, click on perspective grid, and then change the perspective grid to whatever you like. You can save a grid to a preset to save time. To change the positions and scale of the perspective, drag the dots and diamonds. If the light was on the right side of the grid, more light and bright colors would need to be on the right side of the drawing.

    • Matthew De Souza

I agree. It is necessary to obtain inspiration or references prior to commencing in order to ensure its relevance. It’s also crucial to ensure that your designs are created with the correct perspectives and proportions in order to avoid errors in perspective drawings.

    • Nastassia Molicheva

I like that you mentioned specifically not only the inspo/goal, but the technical aspects of using the perspective grid tool in Illustrator.

When creating a perspective drawing, keep in mind the proportion and the perspective of your drawing or design. How wide or long do you want your design to look. Take for instance, the Empire State Building. It’s one of the longest buildings in NYC. You’ll want to make it look like it’s very tall. If the proportions are wrong, it’ll probably look strange and will most likely collapse if there was such buildings. Same thing if you want to make it look long. It would look weird otherwise if the proportions are wrong.

    • Jeffrey Lin

Paying attention to perspectives and proportions of your designs is important to prevent imperfections in perspective drawings.

  7. Nira Bouzgarrou

The first step is to decide whether you want to construct a one-point, two-point, or three-point viewpoint. Then draw the horizon line, which is the imaginary line that divides the sky from the Earth. It must be established initially since it will act as a reference point for all other components in the picture. Making a vanishing point, then beginning to draw the pieces of the picture using the vanishing points as a guide. When designing a structure, for example, the lines of the walls and roof should converge toward the vanishing points.

    • Nira Bouzgarrou

In addition, while drawing in perspective, items farther away seem smaller than those closer to the spectator. Adjust the scale of your components as needed.

Shade and texture should be addressed as well. Adding shade and texture to your drawing may allow it to have depth and dimension. To create the appearance of depth, use gradients, shadows, and patterns.

Finally, don’t be scared to try different views in order to produce fascinating and dynamic compositions.

    Question 01 –

What things would you consider when creating a perspective drawing in Illustrator?

Some of the things that I would consider when creating a perspective drawing would be first to select something to draw that would work and is symmetrical. I think this is the first thing you need to consider because there are something like clouds if you wanted to make a cloud and it was symmetrical it wouldn’t look natural. If you chose something like a face looking forward it would work better because although faces aren’t 100% symmetrical it would look more natural. Another thing I would consider is how I want to reflect on the practice that I want to use. I would also make sure when making the intersection lines are properly lined up in the center to make sure the illustration comes out center. while using the live mirror in Illustrator it’s important to in my opinion pick a side that you will be working on because when you do it’s more organized and once you reflect something on the reflected side you can’t change the reflection or move it slightly.

    • Zi Hang Lian

I agree since you want to work with something that works. If it doesn’t work, it’ll probably fall and destroys itself in real life. Even major casualties.

What things would you consider when creating a perspective drawing in Illustrator?

First and foremost, what you have in mine is a concept of how you want your drawing to be or look. Consider looking up inspiration if you need to; after that, the perspective tool is extremely useful to make sure nothing is off balance or anatomically incorrect. Decide on what type of perspective you would like your drawing to have: one-point, two-point, or three-point perspective. Another point to consider before starting a perspective drawing is the vanishing point. The vanishing point is where all paralleled lines appear to meet, and make sure to always use the grid to ensure nothing is off balance or out of scale with the scale and proportion of your drawing. Objects closer to the viewer appear larger, while objects further away appear smaller. These are the points to consider so far before working on or creating a drawing using the perspective tool in Illustrator.

Question 01 – What things would you consider when creating a perspective drawing in Illustrator?

Something to consider when doing a perspective drawing in Illustrator is to decide what you’re going to draw first. Then you can start to think of how you’d like to work towards creating the drawing, like what tools you’d want to use and how you’re going to keep track of what you need to do and have completed. You have to be sure of what you’re doing before started to prevent confusing yourself or making mistakes or forgetting certain details you wanted. Using the available tools will also help you get to the finished look you want from your drawing.

    • Ibrahima Diallo

I agree, always knowing what you want to draw before actually getting into it is really helpful

      • Blany Gil Reyes

Certainty. This is why it is important to get inspiration or references before starting, not only for creativity’s sake but also for understanding perspective and the vanishing points at eye level.

  11. Ibrahima Diallo

When creating a perspective drawing what you may want to consider is first figuring out what is it you want to draw. Once you start to figure out what you want to draw then you can start taking on some next steps to see how you want to go about it. You should want to make sure that whatever you want to do does make sense otherwise things can get blown out of proportion. Looking at the tools that you have illustrator will help with enticing the drawing that you are going for.

    • Ebony Derrick

The considerations are very important for everyone to use. It will help new artists keep track of what we’re doing and what we need to do step by step.

    • Maribel Royer

I agree with your comment when it comes to know what we want to create. Overall, perspective drawing in illustrator is a great way for creating realistic drawings. I know it can be difficult to get the hang of at first, specially to me as I need to get more familiar with the available tools in Illustrator. I would love to get to know them well so I can apply my analog perspective drawing skills. I believe with some practice, I will be able to create amazing perspective drawings in less time than the traditional way.

    • Katherine Alas

I agree that you have first to figure out what you want to draw and have some consideration based on what you are drawing. Proportion is important because it can make the illustration look cleaner and more organized. The live mirror does help a little bit because you know if you draw a face the proportions of both sides would be the same.
