A city is usually defined as a dense, populated urban area. There are several components a city must have in order to be a full functioning city. A city should have paths, districts and nodes to create convenince to its inhabitants. Cities are usually the headquarters for corportations, financial centers, government services and shopping districts. The close convinence of stores, jobs and underground transportation make living quicker and simpilar. Buildings and Skyscrapers allow for a high amount of houseing and office jobs to its residents. Lewis Mumfords, “What is a city”, discusses how cities can cause urban sociology and explains that this close human interaction promotes not only the growth of the city and its people but the surrounding area as well. He justifys his definition for a city and proves that it provides an efficent structure for living. This is generally what a city is, its elements and its benefits.
