Mentor Text Analysis- Evelyn Castillo

For the intro of this video, the hook is switching from one thing to another (switching  from the little girl to pictures with voice in the background). I think what makes the best impact is the sound effect. The mentor text incorporates research on the first part by highlighting the history behind women who have been exceptional or unique. Even though the mentor text does not explicitly says “according to…” it explains chronologically how women have been succeeding in their careers. The text incorporates narrating by having a young voice explaining what historical things have happened, and contrasting with the opposite of what if they didn’t have to be exceptional.  What I noticed about how the mentor text incorporates visuals are by showing imagines of what the narrative is being about, for example “what if they didn’t have to be the first” then show a video of a young person not being the only one in raising her hand. Also the color and layout of the video is showing one person, (who is opening), then having different videos of other people but in a different layout (smaller screen) and ending up closing with the same person who opens the video. The mentor text auditory wise had a strong song as background which increases as the message becomes clearer, then ends up mixing both voices of the one girl and then another girl to basically make the message clear.  The length of the mentor text is 1 min and 7 seconds. The primary audience is women since it is a celebration of women’s day. I think it’s inspiring and makes me feel in solidarity with other women, especially the younger generation, which is what I want to do at the end of my project. The mentor text comes to an end in an impactful way, as I mentioned before the video beginning with one specific person and transitions to another person but ends up with the same person making it look like a loop. The creator’s message is solidarity between women and to celebrate and inspire other women to be part of industries where women are not as common as in other industries. The aspects I want to emulate from my mentor text are, the sound quality to make a drastic message, the layout of the video (format) and the ending and closing effect. The aspects I will avoid in my project are avoiding ending with a different picture, and avoiding sharing the same message since my topic is different.
