Project proposal – Wendbenedo

Research question: What is the impact of French military interventions in African countries on regional stability and conflict resolution?

Message: My Op-ed aims to educate the public about the negative impacts of Western interventions, especially France, in African countries. Audiences will learn that these interventions have perpetuated conflict and instability rather than solving them.

Target Audience: I target people who are interested in international relations and the impact of Western powers on developing countries. Specifically, my audience includes French government, students of political science, global studies, and international development.

Genre:

I will be writing an Op-Ed for this project. I have chosen this genre because it is a powerful way to share my perspective on neocolonial interventions in Africa and to advocate for change.

Plan: To begin, I will use my research in the RAB about the impact of French military interventions in African countries on regional stability and conflict resolution. I will look at policies and ideas that have been used to help. After learning more, I will create a plan for my Op-Ed. I will write down the important topics that need to be addressed. When I have a draft, I will ask my friends and mentors to help me make it better.

Concerns: My primary concern is ensuring that my arguments are well-supported and persuasive. I want to ensure that I present a clear and compelling case for addressing the impact of French military interventions in African countries.

Mentor text: For my mentor text, I will use Mentor Text NYT Feature Article: Why are

  1. THIS IS GOOD!

Except for one problem. You are choosing a feature article for your project creating an op-ed? NO — choose an op- ed from the list of possible mentor texts in the Option TO Write an Op-ed.
