Part 2 Summary
In the article “‘Schools Are Killing Curiosity’: Why We Need to Stop Telling Children to Shut up and Learn.” by Wendy Berliner, we learn that schools are not motivating curious children to ask questions, causing them to lose their curiosity. Research in the article stated that the children who were more curious and asked more questions performed better in school. In an other research conducted by Susan Engel showed that children only asked between two to five questions in a two hour period. This research also showed that as kids grow they stop asking less and less questions resulting in them not asking any questions when they are ten or eleven years old. The author Wendy Berliner wants us to understand that curiosity and asking questions is not a bad thing and that we should encourage young children to ask more questions
