Douglass and Resilience-Divine Laurencin

Part A

Q3- When Douglass said “learning to read had been a curse rather than a blessing”. He is basically describing that based on the knowledge you know, it can lead to conflict. The more Douglass kept reading about slavery , the more angry he became. Learning to read for Douglass was a blessing, but when he found out about the truth of slavery he became furious and started disowning who he was. When Douglass also mentions “freedom…was ever present to torment me.”He realized that freedom has not happen for him to feel a way about living.

Part B-One thing I found hard during my educational journey is how to properly take a test in order to have a chance in passing a grade. When I was in High school I was failing a lot test given to me. I was given a mail that said I was in jeopardy of getting left back. There were times where I didn’t take my work serious. So what I did was become more focus and read the instructions carefully. Also I learned to pace myself and check every answer .Lastly When I started doing this I gained confidence in myself to care about my work which helped me pass enough test to get through school.
