Douglass and Resilience- Asghar Ali Khan

Q3-  When Douglass said “learning to read had been a curse rather than a blessing” he is saying that he is getting more information about the reading when ever he said that read is making me like a slave and taking away a lot . The more Douglass found out slavery,it made how more sad that he is about slave. For Douglass read was a blessing but through out the reading and realizing that reading and being slave will cruse him for the rest of life but this can be resolve if he could start over or do something to make him not slave or reading .When Douglass mentions “freedom… was ever present to torment me” he was probably realizing that freedom is just an illusion to him because he never had freedom. That slaves will never have freedom and he started to over think.

Part B:

One thing I found hard during my educational journey is how to write proper sentences/ paragraphs. During High school I liked taking English class, one because I am very good at it but the writing was a bit interest . I didn’t know how to start a paragraph and when to end it. With sentences I don’t know if it is becoming short on sentences or it’s fine. I find it confusing but over time I have been getting better.

One thing I did it was to reach out to professional so help me out. With those help they would give me little paper showing how I should start a paragraph. One strategy I learned to do is to read some books in my free time. When I read a book I try my best to pay attention to how the author wrote their paragraph or sentence.

  1. OK — Much Better!

I will try to give lesson on this problem that you bring up.

One Strategy: Remember that each paragraph has to have ONE unifying idea. So each paragraph is united around ONE topic. Look at the texts we are studying to see how the author sticks to one thing he is writing about per paragraph.

Suggestion for Major Unit Assignment coming up: Can you develop a scene when you were learning and struggling with paragraph writing? What was the class? What was the assignment? Where were you when you were trying to write this paragraph? What was the inner dialogue, inner thoughts going through your mind?

THese are all ways you can develop this writing more completely and add it to your Education Journey which we are about to start. This will be Major Assignment Unit One.
