Moving toward a final draft

  • Think about your reader and the direction and flow of your piece. Where do you want the reader to pause and reflect? Where do you want to push them ahead to the next idea? Where do you want to remind them of something you said earlier? Where do you want to emphasize something? Use transition phrases to direct your reader and to connect ideas. To help you integrate transitions, consult Purdue Owl’s list of transitions and Purdue OWL’s explanation of how to write transitions.
  • Return to your draft and do the following:
    • Find a place where you can describe a person, place, or action/event using vivid description. Consider all five senses and add at least two to that description.
    • Find two places where you can add dialogue and do so.

Leave a comment detailing your additions.

I found that the transition i use in my paragraphs could’ve been worded better. Also I gave more explanation to a certain topic I was discussing to give the readers a better understanding. Also I tried connecting to the reader and tried giving them a visual image of what I was writing about.

I will be working on adding/editing my draft to have better well organized parapgraphs, along with editing my paragraphs to be able to be there own paragraphs and not ones that continously continue, as well as better elaboration for some of the subjects I wanted to emphasize on.

My additions to my draft were eliminating dialogue that was unnecessary, example would be a part where I over explained something that shouldn’t be, I also went back and noticed in some parts the structure wasn’t as strong as I wanted it to be instead it was all just a mess of repetitive words, so I changed it into a more simpler structure so the reader can understand/ get to the point I am trying to make.
