Plagiarism

Plagiarism is when you take other writers or author’s original work and say it is your work. In the first reading “Plagiarism: a lie of the mind” by Isserman, he said, “Plagiarism is a form of fraud. You plagiarize if you present other writers’ words or ideas as your own.” He said that it is intellectual theft. I agree with him. It is cheating. If you want to use someone else thought, fine use it but you also should give them credit by mentioning them in quotes. When we, as students, write an essay for our course, we are asked to quotes if we are using someone else work. And I think it is fair for the writer. My question is how can we know if something is plagiarized? Because so many times when we don’t know if its original work of that person or it’s been plagiarized.
