Blog 7: Plagiarism

After reading the articles I realized plagiarism isn’t as obvious or easy to avoid. Even saying commonly used cliches like “I lost track of time” or “what goes around comes around” can be considered plagiarism. The problem is no one really knows who came up with these phrases and who are we suppose to give credit to every time we want to say these phrases. I think there is a limit to what should be considered plagiarism, but apparently it isn’t as clear as I thought. Imagine the times police officers arrest some one and say “you have the right to remain silent…” Isn’t that plagiarism? I believe as long as you don’t take someone else’s work or ideas and pass them off as you’re own, you shouldn’t have to worry about plagiarizing. If you happen to take someone’s ideas without knowing, then the original owner of the content should contact you so you can add their name/source to what you have produced.
