Blog 6: Why Copyright?

From the video of copyright, you can understand why copyright exists. I thought copyright was only to prevent people from copying your work, but there is also the aspect of making profit from other people’s work. The congress assures people’s work will be secured with copyright so that they can keep making more movies, books, or other media. It also prevents people from making different versions of the original inspiration, which can result in more popularity than the original work. The only way you can use the idea of a copyrighted work is if the creator agrees to let you use their idea. So the animated movies that are remade with real actors must have partnered with the original copyrighted animated movie.
