Zines are small publications of information. However, the information within a zine comes directly from its creator. Whereas the ideas in a newspaper comes from the owners of the company. For instance a news paper owned my Rupert Murdoch may contain negative information towards Barack Obama because Murdoch is a republican. However the person who is writing the story could possibly have nothing against Obama and in fact could be part of the democratic party. Zines are the alternative media and contain ideas and beliefs unavailable in your daily newspaper. Some would include “how to” directions, as well as criticism of science fiction movies. Zines can be about anything, whereas newspapers cover the same information from day to day.
