Learning is a source of hope for a better future. It requires hard work and sacrifice which can be even more difficult in challenging times. I have experienced great things I could accomplish.
Hi Tia,
What are some experiences that prepared you for college? Read others reflections for reference.
I faced a difficult situation when I found out my teacher best friend was leaving the high school I graduated from. To overcome this, I self reminded myself that I could achieve anything as long as I set my mind to it. To my surprise, I ended up doing even better than I did in previous years.
Wow, that’s amazing resilience! Losing a supportive figure can be tough, but you turned it into an opportunity to grow.
It’s great to hear that you ended up doing even better than before! That’s a testament to your inner strength and determination. Remember to carry that confidence with you as you navigate new challenges at City Tech.
There are multiple ways in which I can change how productive I am to be successful in college. I must build on study habits that work for me to ensure that I can pass my courses and find a way to balance my academic life as well as my social life. I may take advantage of Tuesdays, as I have time off to use them as study days. That way, I can minimize the studying that I might have needed to do on weekends. Even on the days that I do have classes I will make an effort to study. When I am doing any schoolwork I will make sure that I stay on task through a to-do list; that way I can worry about what I need and prioritize my time to the best of my abilities. I need to build on making connections so that when I need help, I can ask either my professors or other students in the class. It is important to find learning habits that work best for me.
Finding ways to balance out your college life and academic life is crucial in order to maintain a stable life style while working for your degree. I believe that taking advantage of your spare time will put you ahead as it gives you more opportunities to get ahead of your work rather than let it pile up. A to do list is also a great idea as it will help you in prioritizing the work that needs to be done and improves your work ethic overall. If you have trouble making connections try to be apart of your college community such as clubs in order to build and create strong bonds with people that may be majoring in the same thing as you. Try to not study too much as it might impact other aspects of your life such as social as you confide your time to only studying try to maintain a balance if possible.
Hi Amaris,
Those are great habits to build and work on. One important thing is to be consistent ones you find what works for you. Nice Post!
I will build and create healthy study habits in order to ensure my success at City Tech. I will achieve this by beginning to create to do lists in order to maintain a organized and positive mind set while studying for tests or completing assignments. This habit will also help me with time managing which is something I will have to improve on in my college life in order to be able to make time for all the important aspects of my life such as my education, lifestyle and relationships. Also I will maximize my time availability on days in which I do not have classes or many classes in order to achieve efficiency and proper distribution while studying. Finally I will stop procrastinating on assignments and studying by forcing myself to begin studying or assignments the day in which they are given to me in order to not leave everything until the last minute and be able to increase the quality of assignments and studying. Finally I would like to explore different study habits in order to see which ones works best for me and which method is more efficient for me like going to a cafe I would like to explore new options overall.
It is good to get a head start on assignments, it helps you get over them quicker and allows you to focus on making time for other assignments you may want to spend more of your focus on. For me if I am having trouble with one assignment I would ask text a classmate in that class, while I am waiting for a response I would take advantage and start another assignment that I have more of an understanding of. If a method of study does not work for you maybe try searching up other methods or asking other students in your major how they handle studying.
That’s a great strategy! Getting a head start on assignments helps you stay ahead of the game and manage your time effectively. And I love that you’re proactive about seeking help when needed – don’t hesitate to reach out to classmates or peers for support.
Your approach to switching between assignments while waiting for feedback is also smart. It’s all about maximizing your productivity and making the most of your time.
And you’re absolutely right, everyone learns differently, so it’s essential to experiment with various study methods and seek advice from others in your major. Keep being resourceful and adaptable, and you’ll find what works best for you! Keep it up!
During my time at city tech I will create positive academic habits by working hard to be academically successful. One of the ways I will become academically successful is by studying for every course that I take. I will study atleast 2 hours a day. By doing so I will be able to achieve high grades and receive high standards from my peers. Another way I will become academically successful is by showing up to class everyday on time so that Iâm not left behind. Lastly, another way I will create positive academic habits is by reviewing work with my peers in the same class as so that Iâm able to gain feedback as feedback can help with growth and make me develop a growing mindset.
That’s a great plan! You’re setting yourself up for success by committing to regular studying, attending classes, and seeking feedback from peers. Consistency and accountability are key to developing positive academic habits.
I love that you’re aiming to study at least 2 hours a day – that’s a great starting point. Remember to take breaks and review material regularly to help retain information. Showing up to class every day on time is crucial, and I’m glad you’re prioritizing that. And seeking feedback from peers is a fantastic way to gain new insights and perspectives.
I think a lot of design proposals, whether it was by myself or in a group, have helped me become more confident in speaking in a crowd (In Highschool). Something that I hope to accomplish at City tech, is to be able to connect with the audience more. As I placed a lot of emphasis on what I’d say, but didn’t really think about how the audience would interpret it. You want to leave the audience with a clear description on what you want to do.
That’s a great insight! Recognizing the importance of audience connection is a huge step forward. At City Tech, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to hone your presentation skills and learn how to effectively engage with your audience.
Remember, it’s not just about conveying your ideas, but also about understanding your audience’s perspective and needs. Practice active listening, ask for feedback, and be open to adjusting your approach. You got this!
Time management will create positive academic habits, I will start a daily and weekly schedule that dedicates time to studying, attending classes, and completing assignments. Calendars and reminder apps will help me stay organized and not procrastinate. Another important habit I intend to develop is engagement. This means attending classes, participating in discussions, and seeking clarification when needed By actively engaging with the content.
Excellent strategy! Creating a schedule and using tools like calendars and reminder apps will definitely help you stay on track. And I love that you’re prioritizing engagement – participating in classes and seeking clarification when needed will not only help you understand the material better but also build relationships with your professors and peers. Keep it up!
While i’m attending City Tech I will create positive academic habits by eliminating all distractions when needed, setting goals for myself and practicing self care. In my opinion if I stick to these things I will be able to reach my highest potential and keep my grades maintained. By eliminating all distractions I would be able to focus more on my education and not lose concentration from simple things. If I set goals for myself it would give me more motivation to complete any task or assignment. Furthermore, by prioritizing myself and my health I will be able to be the best version of myself which is something that’s incredibly important to achieve all my goals.
That’s a great plan, Sienna! You’re setting yourself up for success by eliminating distractions, setting goals, and prioritizing self-care. Remember, small steps lead to big accomplishments. Stay focused, motivated, and kind to yourself. You got this!
Keep in mind, it’s okay to take breaks and recharge. Self-care isn’t a one-time achievement, but an ongoing process.
I will create positive academic habits for myself by implementing a schedule to my every day life such as a study time or work time. I feel like having a schedule is a good way to start off since its a reminder of the things I need to do and when I need to get them done. Since I usually procrastinate I feel like having my own earlier deadline will help me finish my work faster since I’m limiting the time I was originally given. Also having a schedule helps build habits, this will benefit me a lot by helping me make create a good routine I will follow day to day.
Hi Karen,
I also put reminder in my phone calendar and create a schedule for myself. It has helped me come a long way for the time I have been in college. Nice post!
To create positive academic habits, I will set clear goals for each semester to stay focused on what I want to achieve. Staying organized with a planner or digital calendar will help me manage my workload, while developing a consistent study routine will reinforce good habits. Engaging with my peers through study groups and class discussions will deepen my understanding and make learning more enjoyable. I will seek help from professors, tutors, or classmates when needed and make use of academic support resources. Balancing study time with rest and hobbies is essential for maintaining well-being, and I’ll strive to keep a positive mindset and persist through challenges.

Hi Miguel,
Sounds like you are on a good start! I also took College Now classes and it has helped me better prepare for college. Nice post!
My life experiences from my time in high school have prepared me for college. I’ve experienced several different points of view of what it’s like to be a student. I know what it’s like to be an extremely unmotivated student who had to face the repercussions of my academic neglect and I also know what it’s like to be rewarded for academic excellence. Over time in high school, I actively improved upon the bad habits I started high school with and ended this part of my education in a far better position. Now being a college student, these experiences have prepared me to make smarter choices regarding my academics and how I go about learning and studying. I can use my failures and my successes to guide me, being that I know from experience what will happen if I do not do what is required versus what will happen if I do.

The Question I chose to answer is âWhat life experiences have prepared me for college?â. I dont think I can name a specific or single experience that has prepared me for college but what I can say is that series of events that have occurred in my life have strengthened me and made my career leading up to having a great college career. I believe that my past experiences developed a sense of motivation that will help me in the future by not giving up and just to keep trying everyday.
