Today we learned about getting studio lighting outside with the equipment we used. We used an external light attached to an umbrella to mimic the softlight. The lighting was difficult when adjusting it toh the low exposure settings in the enviroment. the results were so pleasing thogh to see the light fill out the way they should.

Today we went out and worked with ambient light. These pictures were mostly taken with experimentation of the exposure and the intensity of the speed light.

Today in class we went to take some shots around dumbo. All of these shots were taken with a flash. But some of these pictures the flash was taken by different angles. For the first three pictures the flash was above him. The aperture for the first three pictures was f/ 4.0 with a iso of 100 and shutter speed 1/60. The last two pictures the flash was right in front of him. The aperture was f/ 4.0 with a iso of 100 and shutter speed of 1/100.

Today we learned how to use studio lighting while shooting  outdoors. In order to accomplish taking these photos my subject had to be under exposed. In fact, we were using an external flash  and an umbrella to soften the light on the subject. My iso also remained at 200 through out the entire shoot, despite the dark environment we were in.

To capture these photos I had to underexpose the background in order for the subject to be well lit by the speed light. My settings for the photos were shutterspeed 1/160, ISO 800, and Aperture of F/4.0. I tried a variety of angles squatting and standing and moving the light from different sides. We found that the light works the best from the far right or left to give the light and angle.

We found a light in front of a restaurant that resembled a spotlight. I used ambient lighting instead of flash lighting. I really liked the exposure the spotlight produced.

For this learning log we shot outside and also used a speed light. To get these photos I had to first set the settings to be a little underexposed so that way when the light fires the image will come out alright with the flash and the natural light. Also, I had to make the aperture the highest it can go so the subject would standout and show some depth.

In this photo I kept the shutter speed at 1/125, which is what I usually shoot with. Since it was still daylight and a little cloudy, I had the aperture at F5 and the ISO at 800. I like this picture because of the vibrant background with the subject in all black. Giving it a figure/ground aspect to it.

For the late photos, I had my shutter speed slower at 1/80 because I was experimenting with different shutter speed. The aperture was at F6.3 and the ISO at 1600 because it was dark.
