Environmental stewardship is important to the cruise line industry because the industry is not only responsible for making sure their customers enjoy themselves but also making sure that they develop responsible environmental practices. Cruise lines are responsible for recycling more than people do on land, which shows the positive effect that they have on the environment though their business. Cruise ships also have specially trained environmental officers whose jobs are to reduce waste and sort recyclables. Environmental stewardship is important because if they are doing their job at keeping the environment they use clean, then they can run a smoother business.
