1. The purpose of World Central Kitchen is to distribute individually packaged, fresh meals in the communities that need support. Their goal is to provide a warm meal for those who need it, no matter where.
  2. World Central Kitchen is feeding people in need in Indonesia, Haiti, and Hawaii.
  3. These communities are being served by World Central Kitchen because they are going through hard times, have been affected by natural disasters, or simply live in areas that have scarce food. For example, in Indonesia, due to a tsunami, a boy named Habib can only get food after his siblings and parents have eaten. WCK makes it their mission to reach people in situations like him.
  4. World Central Kitchen also takes education initiatives to help students and schools. One of their initiatives is Sink to Stove, where school cooks are taught safe food handling practices to ensure kids’ foods are safely prepared. Ecole des Chefs is another initiative to prepare young aspiring chefs for a career in the industry. Not only are they training students in a premier culinary school, but they are also offering them internships that then lead to job placements.
  5. I believe that World Central Kitchen puts efforts towards education because like any other industry, the culinary and hospitality industry needs new trained chefs and workers to keep working in future years. If young people are trained early on in life, they will grow up with passion and talent for the industry when their time comes to join it.
