As promised, I didn’t assign any work over the Thanksgiving break–but now we’re in the post-Thanksgiving crunch time! Please keep working on your projects, and we can discuss your work and concerns in class on Tuesday, 11/30.
Class Info
- Dates: Wednesday, 11/24-Tuesday, 11/30
- Meeting Info:
- For the synchronous sessions, we will meet on Tuesday, 11/17, 12:00-1:40pm via Zoom and share notes in a shared document.
- For the other class meeting time, which would have been 100 minutes long, you will do your work throughout the week asynchronously, on your own time. This work and homework are indistinguishable but all contribute to your informal work for the semester.
- Work will be due during the week as noted in the weekly agenda, usually with Monday mornings as a deadline to join a discussion so we all have time to read an respond to each other.
Topic
Working on ENG 1101 Project #3: Composing in a New Genre and Artist Statement
Objectives
- To work on Project #3, which will include:
- To engage with research that will help us explore our topics
- To consider genre conventions, audience, and purpose
- To continue to build our glossary
To Do This Week
Work on and submit your annotated bibliography if you haven’t already; work on Project #3
Actions
- In class on Tuesday, 11/30, I’m going to ask each of you to report about your projects or ask questions. If you are stuck, that’s part of the process, so we can discuss that as well! I’m here for you if you want to work together on your ENG 1101 projects.
Reading
- Review the instructions for Project #3 and the post with suggested tools for composing in a new genre.
Writing
- If you haven’t already, add your Project #2: Reflective Annotated Bibliography as a post using the category ENG 1101 Project #2 Posts (search for the category or keep scrolling through the list of categories).
- Contribute to two discussions: one about what we can cut to make the rest of the semester more doable, and one about your Project #3 progress and questions.
- Add another entry to our shared glossary (according to the glossary instructions). Think if there’s a word from our current readings or from your research that you want to add. Let me know in the discussion about what we can cut if you think a different number of glossary entries makes more sense.
