Mike Bunn Analysis

In his article, Mike Bunn writes “You are already an author.” I think Mike Bunn means by this is everyone is already a writer in their own way just writing a simple sentence a text message to your mom or anyone is you being a author of some sort. As well as writing for to your teacher, a homework assignment this is  you being your own author of that piece that you have just written because you are the own that is writing with your own techniques. Some of the things I write already is essays, poems, homework assignment, analysis of a article, math explanations. This existing expertise will help me in my college reading and writing career because I can take what I know and perfect them make it better than what I can do right now.

I noticed a technique in Bunn’s article that I would like to try to do in my own writing is he said ” This is important because it’s the same thing you should be thinking about while you are writing: how will readers respond to
this technique I am using, to this sentence, to this word? As you read, ask yourself what the author is doing at each step of the way, and then consider whether the same choice or technique might work in your own writing.” This technique is good to have because I should have in mind my readers, ask myself will they be interested in what I write, will they read it, will they like if I use a different kind of technique than usual, will they comprehend what I am trying to say or should I simplify it more. I should also take what other authors use in there own writing and see if it works for me in my own writing.

My name

I am born and raised in Queens my parents are from Ecuador. My name is Carmen and the language that makes me who I am is Spanish I speak both English and Spanish. I think what makes people treat me a certain way is my background being Hispanic but I am proud of my race. My name is very well known in the Latino community many family’s name there kids Carmen but since is such a Hispanic name they just assume I am different from everyone else and need more  guidance or just treat one differently. However because of that my family has been a great influence on my literacy, education because of them I love reading in both languages and have motivated me to become the first generation who graduates high school and soon college. When it comes to writing I don’t like it since I’m not good at it and find it hard how to start a paper. The fact that I can speak both languages actually helps I see it as a virtue it helps me in life getting a job being bilingual it’s something many jobs look for.  I set goals that I hope very soon I can fulfill both professional and  personal. My attitude toward the world can be said as positive but at the same time pessimist because I see how much the world is being destroyed because of us, how many problems keep rising instead of being solved. How inequality seems to still be an issue racism towards sex, color etc. animals being tortured, pointless fight in social media, technology destroying our future generations. At the same time I have faith that things will change we will become aware as a society and look for a positive change instead of destroying ourselves or the Earth.

Homework #1

In the article “ Zayn Malik And The Songs That Bring Us To Prayer” and the video I just realize that some people have been feeling uncomfortable by the way their name is fit in people’s mouths. Furthermore, some people are treating them wrong because of their name and background  . However, these people are getting their names from parents who are attached to their religion and culture and want their kids to get used to their culture and religion. In addition, these names have some great meaning that other people don’t know about it.

My name is Kervens Jean Baptiste I got this name from my Dad by saying my name most can imagine where I am from. For my first name, kervens the French or creole pronounced a little differently to the English and Spanish people. In addition, my last name Jean-Baptiste, which is French and a popular last name in my country, a lot of people pronounce it differently. However, I never feel bad about it because I understand that people speak different languages and pronounce the name differently as I used them too. To make it easy for some people I had to pronounce my French last name in English for them so they say it or write it properly. I never think a Name can define who someone is, I think it’s discrimination if you try to judge someone by his name. However, in my country, some people think a name could influence a person due to the history of the previous person who has that name. As a reason, they have banned some names for their kids so people don’t judge and make them feel uncomfortable. In addition, their parents that their children become bad people for society and the future that is why they mostly pick their kid’s names from the Bible.
