How do families cope with life after loved ones have been victims of police brutality?

Studying and bringing light to police brutality has always been an interest of mine. We are all aware of what happens to the victims of police brutality, but are we aware of what happens to the family? Are we aware of the pain and agony they go through when they find out their loved one has become a victim of police? I feel like it’s important for us to highlight the process of families trying to cope with police brutality. In my research I had already expected to find several articles on police brutality and how its cases are rising. The reason is because it’s becoming more prominent in the media lately. With all the protest on the Black Lives Matter Movement, there has been a surge in police brutality. I had also expected to find recent articles on how families were dealing with their losses. If I should find something that goes completely agains what I expected I still plan on writing my topic. I feel like this is an important topic to cover and if there isn’t much to research its another reason for me to write about it. For my topic I feel like Newspaper’s, Newsletters, and Articles would be a good genres to use because they’re mostly fact based. I feel like with those I can get a good understand of my topic and find out more.

Racism in the North

My research question in, how did white northerners benefit from the slave trade?

The reason why I chose this topic is because I feel like history books are watering down the truth of the North’s involvement of racism. When I was kid, I was taught that the North was against slavery, and that they fought for the rights of black people. However, when I stumbled across a video of a black family being harassed in Queens, NY, in the 1970s (?), it led me to believe that they were spreading lies.

In my research I expect to find some websites that tell the truth and other websites that spread misinformation. I believe this to be so, because, yes there are websites that expose the hidden truth of American History, but, I think that there will be sites that will try to hide/deny it. I also think that it will be difficult to find information on the internet regarding my topic because of how contrary it is to “popular” belief.

If I find information that goes against my belief, it will just further prove that they are hiding the truth. American history isn’t all squeaky clean as they try to make it appear. I know that there are many faults and disturbing facts concerning American history. If those websites spread misinformation, I will write about it, only to prove my point. I would still continue to research my topic, because I truly believe that even one website will confirm my view.

The genres that I think my research paper can use are articles, newspapers, videos, and documentaries. I think that these sources will give e varying pieces of information that will help develop my research paper.

Question: What can be done about climate change right now?

We live on a planet where the Earth is made up of mostly water and have greenery which are the trees and bushes. Do you think Global Warming is real? Are humans the evil masterminds as to why the Earth is heating up? This, my friends, is the activity of climate change. My question comes from Earth Science class when I was a sophomore in high school. When I was learning about the Earth there was no in-depth about climate change at the time and I have always wondered what could’ve been done then could be done now.

I expect to find out a lot of things such as scientific research being adequate to global trends, a motivational speaker speaking up about climate change to engage a younger generation, and ten simple ways to act on climate change as well as possible solutions so Earth doesn’t meet its destruction. If I found something that is not in my itinerary, I plan to take that information and send it to a positive direction that way this information can be put to good use someday.

Bare with me when I say this will be a long journey, but at the end of the journey I would like for you all to keep this question in mind, what can be done about climate change right now? Using genres like environmental blogs, environmental literature, and social media lets brainstorm together and open doors for folks who do not understand that this is not a game, not a trivial matter, and not something to make jokes about. The Earth has feelings too and it expresses itself based on what we do and how we take care of it.
