Ā In the article ā How to read like a writerā The author was explaining how we are authors ourselves and that there are many different ways to interpret reading and how they are many ways to acknowledge reading. To me the authors is saying that every piece of writing that we portray has a purpose. Ways that help me better understand reading is by finding the ideas and quotes that help find meaning. What I mean by this is that if yo u find why the author wrote the book h meaning of the book then itās easier to figure out details and help you understand the book the purpose and makes it easier to understand. After reading how to read like a writer I realized that. There are different methods to reading and that there are more ways to understand how to read and write. Reading and writing is very essential especially to us because we are English college students and the way we read and understand reading is what helps us understand writing and will help us be both better readers and better writers.
Things that was said by bunn in his article that I would like to acknowledge and that I agree and disagree with is that you have to be in a quiet and peaceful think to be Ā able to focus on more reading and writing. I agree when it come to reading part because based on my experience I like to hear myself read and thatās important for me because I like to hear the words from the book to help me understand it better. But writing wise itās ok to be around a little noise to me because I feel Like that when Iām around family or tv or radio etc t may be distracting but it can also provide with ideas . What I mean by this is donāt just copy what they say or anything. But use w hat you learn and hear not only in books but in movies, music and more ad use that to portray your writing.

When Mike Bunn writes in his article ā You are already an authorā it means that we are our own authors. Yes of course we havenāt sold out books or either well recognized. However, thatās not what authors are just about. Authors are people who write doesnāt matter whether itās for a homework assignment or for research. It doesnāt have to be necessarily because you wrote a book. But because you’re the author for every writing piece you have written. You choose every word, sentence, and what writing strategies to use. For example, I have written many essays for high school. Most of these essays are done after we finish reading a book. The reason why teachers assigned these essays is to see if we have actually read and paid attention to the book. Which makes sense because the more we read the more will improve our writing skills. Now all those books and articles I have read have helped me in developing my writing skills. This will allow me to succeed in my reading and writing career path.
According to Mike Bunn’s article, reading how the author wrote and seeing how he/she influences us, readers, by the choices the author has made in their writing. This is actually something I would like to apply to my writing. Mostly because in my writings Iām usually trying to send a message and I would like to influence that message to the readers. Also actually go through those choices that a writer has to make. Meaning like using certain techniques or using specific wording that can help my writing skill. Just like in Mike Bunn’s articles, the way he used certain words and writing skills to make us readers understand heās point of view. I really hope this would help my writing improve a lot. Also will help the reader understand my writing.

Based on the article, Mike Bunn writes āYou are already an author.ā I think he means by this that each one of us writes already making us an author not a recognizable one that gets pay a lot but an author the very least. When we write our thoughts based on something we disagree on, write for a homework we need to hand it or even a text message to a friend. We are authors basically and especially when we are read then write like this article talked about how reading is what can make you become a better author since is a skill that helps improve your writing. Since I have been reading at such a young age and when it has to do for homework I try to take it in the reading and used it to answer the question to that reading one importantly Why am I reading this? What is it trying to tell me?Some things I have wrote is what I mentioned previously and lists, reminders, essays for schoolwork, my ideas, my plans, goals, summarizes, resumes, cover letters ect…
The existing expertise can help me in my college reading and writing because I will learn from there mistakes and triumphs. I can incorporate some of there thinking while I’m reading in my own set of articles or stories of other authors I will be reading from. I can ask some of the questions they be asking themselves while they read because considering they are experts it means it works for them and it should work for me. Another reason it will help me to see a text differently from how I see it now while I read I will look at their style of writing what they did? What I like from it and wish to use on my own writing career? I will see how it stands out to me being the reader at first and then writing remembering what I like and dislike when I was the reader. Also how to read to write this seems to be a helpful skill to use because if experts says it something that help them greatly it can help my writing instead of being dull it can help me add some type of excitement for the reader who will be reading my writing. I can read differently now ask myself is this what I want to do, try it in my own writing, see how it goes and the effects it can have in readers.
Yes, there was something I notices in Bunn’s article that I would like to try to do in my own writing it was the language the formal or informal writing. I want too do this because there is a difference between how to say a sentence and how to really say it based on the wordingĀ and details to it. I want to see when I should use the formal writing and use the informal writing when to make my writing fancier and more interesting rather than just a sentence long which no one will find intriguing. Also the type of vocabulary will help make my writing language be more excelling than shallow. This choices can help in the overall structure of my writing or just change of a small single word can be consider an effective choice in my writing.
