Mentor Text

National Institute on Drug Abuse, Lexie. ā€œSubstance Use and Military Life DrugFacts.ā€ National Institute on Drug Abuse, 9 Nov. 2020, www.drugabuse.gov/publications/drugfacts/substance-use-military-life.Ā

The readers of this mentor-writing are mostly young Youth of the United States and this is interesting because this article has many important tactics to tell about the soldiers.Ā

I believe the writer hooks the reader by being moral about the force level of the soldiers where ever they stationed. ā€œThe stresses of deployments and the unique culture of the military offer both risks and protective factors related to substance use among active-duty personnel.1 Deployment is associated with smoking initiation, healthy drinking, drug use, and risky behaviors ā€. I learned from this how the author grows orderly to the important factors that relate to the soldierā€™s deployment.

Yes, the author is using a composition that holds numbers for the most significant to least important. In addition to the format, the writer also used photographs and that is very attractive. Everything in the article is well established. Hence I think this article will help me to write up an article.

Annoying ways people use sources

After studyingā€œ Annoying ways people use sourcesā€ by Kyle D. Stedman. I believe he is trying to say that it is very essential to accurately reference and indicate any sources so that it can give big acknowledgment for unique thoughts that arose from your brain. There are several methods to use the source for example we can quote it or we can summarize it and then paraphrase it. All of the genres donā€™t have the same audience or the same kind of writing. One of the most significant concepts of rhetoric is that when you start your writing what you basically Shape everything that you want to say. Also, you must have to know about the audience. The most comfortable method to review your genre and your source is by purposefully returning to each one of your outline to see if you set the frame for your readers.

My analysis is about the soldiers and how soldiers strive inside themselves. One of the quotes that I can use from my research is ā€œ If mental health problems become impossible to ignore, there are pressures to quietly take psychotropic medications instead of any other mental health treatment, such as psychotherapy.4 There are also coercive pressures to take medications like stimulants to perform missions lasting twenty-four hours or longerā€. This quote states that being a soldier itā€™s not easy however it takes a lot of courage and strength to be the one different person from all other than in the world. As I remember from the reading by Kyle D. Stedman. That doesn’t let your audience and your readers to go off track. I think the best genre or a source is when you donā€™t let your reader aside and keep them on track with you while they read.Ā

Proposal

Ā The stuff that I want to educate my viewers are about a soldier like how hard it is to become a soldier and how much courage and strength a soldier has. The most important thing that I learned is being a soldier is not a cup of tea a soldier needs a lot of strength to make a decision on what to do in the field. The audience I am trying to reach is the youth of the USA Because the youth will be responsible for their country. A genre that I am thinking to write will be a blog or an article because this will help the youth to understand about being a soldier. The plan that I intend to get started is to skim through my research and choose the best research part of the article or a blog. In addition I have to attach some extra links and about the author who wrote it. As I started this project I thought that I will do good however now I am feeling nervous. Although I am trying and will try my level best to look good in this project.
