I want to show my the audience the truth of racism in the north and how American history utilized lies to cover it up.
The demographic I want to reach is young people, specifically high schoolers.
The type of genre that I believe will convey my message the best is an expose video. Many young people (myself included) enjoy watching videos that expose the truth of how a person actually carries themselves or the terrible past that a person may try to hide. These type of videos gain traction and the attention of the audience.
From what I know, in order to get a well-received or reputable video, there needs to be facts. It’s easy for people to eat up information that is spewed out because they most likely won’t do their own research, however, this can easily blow up in your face and the backlash will be towards you. Including facts, sources, or receipts allows people to trust your judgement and listen fully to what you have to say. People will rely on you for the truth because your citing where you got all your information from.
The format that I plan to follow is: one; explain history how it was taught, two; expose the lies, including sources, and three; provide my insight on the entire situation.
One thing that I’m worried about is me seeming awkward or unnatural in my video. I want my video to be serious but lighthearted as well. I want there to be comedic elements to it, but I’m afraid that I’ll be too stiff to do so.
Sounds great.
